Starlings

Starlings rank 3rd in the nuisance bird category..right behind sparrows and pigeons. In the fall when the birds flock up, it is a sight to behold!  It look as though a thousand birds are moving at once. The downfall to this spectacle is the amount of droppings they leave behind on buildings and in trees. The uric acid in their feces can corrode metal, concrete, and stone. In residential neighbourhoods starlings love building nests in soffits and dryer vents. Each year they will bring more and more nesting material into the home.  They also bring fleas, ticks and mites (not to mention all whole list of diseases such as histoplasmosis (a respiratory disease which can be fatal) and salmonellosis (feels like food poisoning) which is caused by dust from their droppings entering your home through vents and air conditioners).

Pigeons

Pigeons were brought here in 1606 and have been the number one nuisance bird ever since. Pigeons live in or near their nesting sites all year round, meaning once established they never leave. This poses a huge health risk (not to mention the damage done to buildings and structures) due to feces build up. Pigeons are known to carry at least nine different diseases. They can also carry metes, ticks, fleas and various other bugs. The longer you wait to take action the more committed the birds become to their roosting site.
