Dead Animal Removal

Dead Animal Removal

Everything that lives eventually dies.  This is the unfortunate part of life.

Animals die for different reasons and can sometimes die in or under your home.  Many different animals will seek a safe secure place to die.   Squirrels, opossums, rats and mice can get lost when they are young - sometimes they end up trapped in walls.   An animal could also get hit by a motorist and consequently crawl into your yard to seek a safe spot.

It typically takes two to three days to smell a deceased animal.   This two to three day time period can vary according to the time of year and weather temperature.  Poisoning is the main cause of wildlife deaths in the home.  Many people assume they have mice or rats and so they place poison in the attic (the packet reads that mice and/or rats will leave your home in search of water and then perish).  The reality is that the mice or rats don’t normally make it out in time.  They usually end up dying in your attic and/or walls.  Most people do not smell dead mice because they dry up quick.  Rats, on the other hand, take time to decompose and leave horrible smells behind.

Worst case scenario is to have a squirrel or opossum mother eat poison.... leaving their young babies to die.  Homeowners should never handle dead wildlife.  Wild animals are normally infested with fleas and/or ticks.  Once they die they will start to break down which can cause illness to you and your family.

The wildlife technicians at AWE-STRUCK Wildlife Solutions are trained professionals when it comes to handling dead animals.  We will come to your home, find the animal and take the necessary steps to remove, clean-up and if necessary decontaminate the area.
