Opossum Removal

The Opossum, commonly known as ‘possum’, is the only marsupial (pouched mammal) in North America.  The Opossum can have up to 20 babies.  Survival rate of opossum babies is low.  This is because they are born 13 days after mating.   The beetle sized babies climb into the mother’s pouch.  The pouch is where they develop over a period of two to three months.

Given that they detest extreme cold weather, it is surprising they have established themselves in Southern Ontario.  Opossums arrived here from southern parts of the United States.  Opossums are known as nuisance animals in urban areas because they like to live under sheds and decks.  They may even play house in an attic.
