Currently there are 17 different kinds of snakes residing in Ontario. The most common and most widely seen is the Eastern Garter Snake. The only venomous snake is the Eastern Massassuaga Rattler. This Rattler dwells on the eastern shores of Georgian bay, the Bruce Peninsula, on two small pockets around Windsor, and on the north shore of Lake Erie in the Wainfleet Bog. The most common problem with snakes in Ontario is fear. This is why a lot of snakes are killed. The enormous amount of habitat loss due to things like urban sprawl are other reasons why many of Ontario’s snakes are threatened or endangered. It is impossible to keep snakes out of your yard but you can prevent them from living on your property. If you have a snake in your home or living in your yard call AWE-STRUCK Wildlife Solutions. We will humanely trap or catch and relocate. Our Wildlife Technician will assist you in taking preventative measures to make sure they do not come back.
